The Arabian Horse Hippology Contest will be celebrating its inaugural year on October 24-27, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Held in conjunction with the Arabian Horse Association U.S. National Championship Arabian Horse Show and the Arabian Horse Judging Contest, this contest is a great opportunity for youth to see some of the greatest Arabian horses in the country and test their equine knowledge at a national level. This contest is open to 4-H, FFA and AHA club teams, and will include team problems, a written test, identification stations and a horse judging portion.
Youth will compete in two team problems where they will have a designated amount of time to prepare an oral presentation as a team to solve a given problem. Next, they will be challenged at stations where they will have to identify pictures and items, and complete a written test. On Friday, they will join the horse judging contestants and be required to place four classes; two Halter and two performance classes. Awards will be given out during the awards banquet Saturday morning with a full buffet breakfast.
This contest will provide youth an opportunity to compete at a national level against youth across the country. Beyond this, the youth participating in the contest will have the opportunity to walk through the center ring during our contest presentation.
The Arabian Horse Judging Contest is known across the country to be a great experience with amazing prizes and scholarships. The Hippology contest will be no exception, with more than $3,000 awarded in scholarships and prizes. Contest rules and entry form can be found at www.arabianhorses.org/hippology.
