Region 1 wants to let everyone know that the All Arabian Region One Championship Show will be held in the Marry Month of May. The dates are May 18-22, 2016. We have added a full slate of Sport Horse classes to the preshow for those of you that need to get qualified. We will be having our Tam Judging Contest again and some other fun things, so come and join us and enjoy the beautiful weather, beautiful horses, and a lot of friends in Del Mar, California in May. A NEW SHOW FOR 2016: APHC/SCHAA MAY DAY DRESSAGE SHOW -- The Arabian Performance Horse Club and Southern California Half-Arabian Association are co-hosting a new one-day AHA Dressage Show on May 1, 2016 at Pepperglen Farms in Norco, California. This will be a qualifying show for Region One and Nationals. This is a one-day show with limited day stalls available. The schedule will feature Dressage levels Intro through 4th level - ATR and Open; and Western Dressage levels Intro through 2nd level - ATR and Open. The premium is available both online and here. The San Diego Arabian Horse Association will be putting on an Arabian community show on May 1, at Deer Spring Equestrian Center in San Marcos, California. For more information on all association events and activities, please contact Mimi Gaffey or Theresa Oakley.
Rancho California Arabian Horse Association is holding their Spring Show in conjunction with the Region 2 club, AHAJV, in Burbank, California, at the L.A. Equestrian Center, March 24-27. The Region 2 Sport Horse and Dressage Championships will be offered along with a full range of Trail classes. Eight $500 High Points will be presented. The Golden Empire Arabian Horse Society is sponsoring an open CDS Dressage Show in Bakersfield, California. The show premium list will be available on our website, after February 1. For more information, contact geahs@bak.rr.com.
Region 2 and Regional Clubs will be sponsoring two shows coming up at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, California. The first will be Mother's Day weekend, May 6-8. For information on the show and entry information, contact Nancy Goertzen, show secretary, or go online to download the premium. For stabling, contact Rod Goertzen.
In June, the Region 2 Pre-Show and Championship Show will be held in Santa Barbara at Earl Warren Showgrounds. Pre-Show dates are June 21-23, and Championship classes are June 24-26. Judges will be Van Jacobsen, Virginia Godwin, Martha Rattner, Dawn Coons, Joanne Crockette and Rick Maxson covering both shows. Volunteers always are needed to make the shows run smoothly. If you can assist in any way for any session, please contact Penny Wardlaw or Joyce Schroeder. Plan a Family Day on Saturday during the Championship classes, as Youth support will be providing games, popcorn, ice cream social and Saturday night with a surprise evening of events. On Saturday evening, a fun class will be held to benefit the AHDF and is open to both amateur and professional riders.

This is a big year for Region III, as we are returning to California. The beautiful Murrieta Equestrian Complex, south of Sacramento, will be the new location. With many arenas and lovely grounds, it is sure to be an exciting move. We encourage everyone to come and enjoy the show, July 11-16. Many new activities and programs. The Gold Coast Arabian Horse Association has been getting the final class list and show plans completed for their Coast Classic show at Santa Cruz Fairgrounds in Watsonville, California, June 3-5. The show is a qualifier for Region 3 Championship and Youth, U.S., and Canadian national shows. High point buckles for youth and adult western pleasure and English exhibitors; new schedule line up for trail and reining classes. Watch the Gold Coast AHA website or Facebook page for premium list or show news updates The show grounds are minutes from beautiful beaches, quaint beach towns and the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Join us for three days of fun in the sun while qualifying for championship shows.
Gold Coast AHA also is hosting a schooling show on April 10 at Thorson's Arena in San Martin, California. A good opportunity to school rider and horse in a show environment before heading out to qualifying shows. At that same arena, Regina Matthews is managing a 4H show, April 17. Also in the works is a community show concentrating on Sport Horse rail classes planned for late summer. More details to follow.
The AHANC Concurrent Shows & Pacific Slope Championships will be held April 14-17 at the Murrieta Equine Complex in Rancho Murrieta, California. The concurrently judged shows allow riders to receive qualifying points for both Region 2 and Region 3 with two judges in the ring at the same time. As a bonus, you also can use those qualifications to compete in the Pacific Slope Championship classes held Saturday and Sunday.
The Pacific Slope Championship classes qualify for U.S. and Canadian National competitions just the same as a Regional competition does. Just think of it as another Regional. Points and placings from most shows in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 will qualify for the Pacific Slope Championship classes. Just check with the sponsoring club to see if they have joined Pacific Slope.
The Comstock Arabian Association is busy this spring and summer with several shows and other events going on. Our big news is that we are hosting the Comstock Arabian Association Golden Anniversary Concurrent Horse Shows at the Reno Livestock Events Center in Reno, Nevada on May 27-29. Friday, May 27 will be a day of Sport Horse and Dressage activity, qualifying for Region 3. Sport Horse In-Hand classes will be held in one arena, while Dressage classes for Arabians/Half-Arabians/Anglo-Arabians will be conducted in the Rodeo Arena. In the afternoon, Sport Horse Under Saddle will be judged in Ring 1 and Western Dressage, both Open and Arabian/Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian classes, will be held in the Rodeo Arena. The Dressage classes are recognized by USDF and CDS. On Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, concurrent shows, approved as Region 3 and Region 4 qualifiers, will include halter and performance classes and will be held in the Rodeo Arena. There are a lot of classes in the open divisions, for amateurs and juniors and there are 12 Academy classes, as well. Details are on the Comstock Arabian Association website.
The Comstock Arabian Association will have an educational booth at the Fourth Annual Horse Expo in Reno, Nevada on May 21. The life-sized model Arabian horse decked out in a Native Costume is always a big hit with the crowd.
Continuing our run since the inception of the Arabian Community Horse Shows, the Comstock Arabian Association will again serve the northern Nevada and northeast corner of California horse community by hosting four Sagebrush Community Horse Shows. Special classes are offered for Arabian/Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabians, for 4-H members, for Color Breed horses as well as open classes for all levels of riders. Tons of classes are offered for All Breed Walk/Trot/Jog riders (riders 13-and-over and riders 12-and-under) and also for Arabian Walk/Trot/Jog riders (riders ages 11-and-over and riders 10-and-under). All classes have jackpot paybacks. Dates are April 3 (prep prior to the AHANC show), June 4, July 30 and August 14. Go to the Comstock Arabian Association website and click on the "Sagebrush" link. You'll see, too, that there is a May 7 "Speed Events"/Games show, open to all riders.
The Red Bluff Arabian Horse Association show dates are May 6-8, at the Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Corning, California. There are many fun amenities at the facility: a casino, fly fishing, golf course and hotels with restaurants. With cash prizes for performance and a new huge arena, it is sure to be a great show. The judge is Ann Judge. The premium is online at Red Bluff Arabian Horse Association.
Diablo Arabian Horse Association spring show dates are May 19-22, held at the Brookside Equestrian Horse Park, in Elk Grove, California. Entries are due April 19. Judges are Isaac Taylor, Van Jacobsen, Margo Hoagland. Always a fun show, with the ice cream social, progressive barn party, and a swimming pool to enjoy. Premium list is available online.
