The Arabian Horse Association’s Annual Membership Convention was held November 16-19 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa.
A total of 235 registered Club Delegates attended the event, along with 60 guests, members, and/or alternates.
This year’s Convention yielded 15 resolutions, and a total of 12 resolutions that were brought to the floor for vote; the election of a new AHA president and vice president; election of boards, panels, commissions and committee members; and the annual celebration of the Club Excellence, Presidential and Volunteer Service Awards.
Nancy Harvey was elected as AHA’s 2017-2019 president, while Deborah Johnson was elected vice president. Bob Nash was re-elected as treasurer and Jan Decker was re-elected as secretary.

This year’s esteemed Presidential Awards went to the Ames Family and Mary Trowbridge for their dedication and service to the breed and industry. Sharon Richards received the National Volunteer Service Award for her many years of service on the Youth National Show Commission and within her own region and club. Club Excellence Awards are presented in three categories and then the Club of the Year Award. The three categories consist of Breed Promotion/Community Involvement; Membership Recruitment/Retention; and Club Projects. In 2016, the Colorado Arabian Horse Club won the Breed Promotion/Community Involvement category; AHA of Eastern Canada won the Membership Recruitment/Retention category; and AHA of Arizona won the Club Projects category. Additionally, the Convention Planning Committee approved the location of the 2017 Convention at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Denver, Colorado, and the 2018 Convention location at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
