New changes have taken place in the Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes Program, providing additional opportunities for you to receive payout:
- Increased payout in the ABS Yearling classes at Canadian and Sport Horse Nationals. All Arabian and Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Yearling Sweepstakes classes will now receive $10,000 per class. Payout will be issued to all Top Ten, regardless of the number of entries. The only qualifications for this class is that the yearling is nominated as a Breeding Entry. The ABS Yearling classes at U.S. Nationals still require a Top Ten placing from a Regional ABS Yearling class from one of the 18 Regional Championships.
- ABS Green Horse Championship -- Starting with the 2018 Sport Horse Nationals, A/HA/AA Green Horse-eligible, Sweepstakes-nominated Breeding Entries can compete for a portion of the $15,000 offered. The Championship class consists of three rounds offered at both 2'6" and 2'9" and riders choose the height at which their horse(s) compete. The course will include natural elements and options and shall consist of 10-12 obstacles. All horses compete in the first two rounds, in which they receive numerical scores. The 12 horses (or less), including those tied for 12th, with the highest combined scores from the first two rounds advance to the third round where they start with a clean slate. This class is exempt from the 50 percent rule.
Take advantage of the $400 entry fee now and enroll by December 31 (postmarked/electronic dated). Enroll multiple in-utero foals at the same time and by the same ownership and receive every fourth entry for half price.
Entry of your in-utero foal can be made up to February 15, 2018 for an additional $100 ($500 total).
If your breeding was not by a Sweepstakes-Nominated Sire, you can still take advantage of the Breeding Entry category by nominating your mare as a Sweepstakes Nominated Dam. The fee for this category is $1,000 and allows the resulting foal to compete in all Sweepstakes classes (additional show qualifications may be required).
